Ghandarvan Sitarist Reshma Srivastava dazzles international audiences. Reshma’s compositions and energized interpretations of the ancient ragas replicate the intimate sounds and frequencies of nature, offering concertgoers a unique, transcendent experience.International performing artist, Reshma Srivastava, M.A. was born into a family of musicians in Allahabad, India. Her uncle, Prof. Satish Chandra, an artist from Pt. Ravi Shankar’s tradition, was her first teacher.
She began her life long musical career on the sitar when she was six years old and gave her first public performance at the age of eight. At twenty, she became an A grade artist, appearing frequently on All India Radio and Television. Reshma received her Masters in Music from the University of Allahabad. Among her many awards, she was honored in the Vedic tradition with the titles Sur Mani (Master of Notes) and Prayag Gaurav (Pride of Prayag‚ Äì Allahabad),
Reshma maintains a busy travel schedule. To date, she has performed in India, Great Britain, Belgium, Holland, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Cyprus, Greece, Slovenia, Turkey, Israel, Croatia and across the United States.
She is a frequent visiting instructor at Maharishi European Research University (MERU) in Holland, where she teaches courses on Maharishi Gandharva Veda, an ancient form of music that forms the basis of Indian classical music.
Reshma has recorded six CD’s and currently offers private lessons to help students master the fine art of sitar around the world via Skype.
